In honor of Matthew Schoener (1992-2008)
2000 Grin Kid
Matthew Shoener was diagnosed with Metachrometic Leukodystrophy in June of 2000. Later that year, Matthew and his family took a trip of a lifetime to Disney World for the first annual Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids Trip. On April 1st, 2008, Matthew went to school like always, and later had an enjoyable afternoon with his family outside. The next day he developed a fever of 102 and was treated for pneumonia. Over the next few days his condition worsened. On the morning of April 6th, at the age of 15, Matthew passed peacefully in his sleep. He was laid to rest in his favorite sweatshirt from Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids.
The 9th Annual Matthew’s Memorial Christmas Lights and Luminaries will be held Saturday, December 13th at the Oak Creek Development. There will be a Children’s Live Nativity from 6P-7P and Matthew's Lights & Luminaries will continue until 10pm.

This annual event was started to collect donations for Matthew’s family’s medical expenses, for the past few years the family and their neighborhood have used the donations to help out other families who have children with terminal illnesses. This year, they have decided to donate all of their donations to Ace & TJ’s Grin Kids. Every year Matthew and his sister would play the roles of Mary and Joseph for the live nativity. Matthew’s mother says she knows that he will be smiling down from Heaven happily knowing that they are keeping “Matthew’s Lights” shining in order to help others.
