CHRIS BROWN WAS SENTENCED YESTERDAY, HE WILL SPEND 1,400 HOURS SCRUBBING GRAFFITI AND WASHING CARS:
Wednesday August 26th, 2009
CHRIS BROWN was sentenced yesterday for assaulting RIHANNA.
He was given FIVE YEARS probation . . . during which he is not allowed to contact Rihanna, even by phone or e-mail.
Chris has to stay at least 100 yards away from Rihanna . . . or 10 yards if they're at the same industry event.
The judge even warned Chris that violating this particular order could result in prison time . . . and she hinted that she KNOWS Chris and Rihanna had violated her previous stay-away order by getting together after the assault.
She said, "I'm not immune to any chatter on the airwaves."
This is an interesting restriction, given the fact that Rihanna didn't even want it. Her attorney had even told the judge this at a previous hearing.
Rihanna wasn't in court for the sentencing, but reporters asked her attorney if she was disappointed by that stipulation. He said, "There were no surprises today. The decision was up to the court, not Rihanna."
(--Rihanna does have the option of asking the court to soften or remove the stay-away order at a later date. Her attorney didn't say whether she might do so.)
Chris was also ordered to take a year's worth of domestic violence classes, and perform 1,400 hours of community service. And just as prosecutors in Los Angeles wanted, that community service will consist of HARD LABOR.
Chris will do his duty in his home state of Virginia. And authorities there said his service would include graffiti removal, washing cars and cleaning and maintaining grounds.
The punishment will, however, be flexible enough to allow Chris to work. And he'll be able to leave the country to perform, as long as he gets permission from his probation officer.
Back in June, Chris agreed to plead guilty to one felony count of assault. In exchange, a second felony charge of making criminal threats was dropped.
(--Chris Brown was originally supposed to be sentenced TOMORROW. But his attorneys asked that it be moved up two days.)
(--You can watch Chris Brown's sentencing here. But be warned: It's over 13 minutes long . . .)
