MACENZIE PHILLIPS CLAIMS SHE HAD CONSENSUAL RELATIONSHIP WITH HER FATHER:
Thursday September 24th, 2009
MACKENZIE PHILLIPS GETS INTO MORE DETAIL ABOUT HER RELATIONSHIP WITH HER FATHER:
We've already heard that MACKENZIE PHILLIPS had a 10-year sexual relationship with her father, JOHN PHILLIPS of the MAMAS AND THE PAPAS.
But in the interview that aired yesterday on "Oprah", she revealed what ENDED that relationship. It was an ABORTION.
Mackenzie got pregnant . . . and wasn't sure if the father was her dad or the guy she was married to at the time. So she had an abortion, which John paid for. After that, she, "never let him touch me again."
SOME OF MACKENZIE PHILLIPS' RELATIVES BELIEVE HER . . . SOME DON'T:
Not surprisingly, MACKENZIE PHILLIPS' revelation that she had a 10-year sexual affair with her father JOHN has disrupted her family pretty severely. Apparently, some of her relatives believe her . . . and some don't.
First, we've got MICHELLE PHILLIPS. She was married to John from 1962 to 1970, and she was one of the other members of THE MAMAS AND THE PAPAS. She's also the mother of WILSON PHILLIPS minx CHYNNA PHILLIPS.
Michelle thinks Mackenzie is FULL OF CRAP. She says, "John was a bad parent, and a drug addict. But (effing) his daughter? If she thinks it's true, why isn't she with a good psychiatrist on a couch?
"I think it's unconscionable that Oprah would let her do her show. I have every reason to believe it's untrue. Oprah should be more judicious about who she has on her show."
She added, "Mackenzie has a lot of mental illness. She's had a needle stuck up her arm for 35 years. She was arrested for heroin and coke just recently. She did 'Celebrity Rehab' and now she writes a book. The whole thing is timed."
But Chynna doesn't agree with her mother. She BELIEVES Mackenzie . . . who first told her this story in 1997.
Chynna says, "Somebody could have dropped a piano on my head and I probably wouldn't have felt it. But I knew it was true. I mean, who in their right mind would make such a claim if it wasn't true?
"Was he actually raping her? I don't know. Do I believe that they had an incestuous relationship and that it went on for 10 years? Yes."
It sounds like John's wives are sticking together, though. Because Genevieve Waite . . . who was married to John from 1972 to 1985 . . . isn't buying this either.
She sent a statement to "Oprah" saying, "I am stunned by Mackenzie's terrible allegations about her father. I would often complain about her overly familiar attitudes towards him, and he said it was just her way.
"John was a good man . . . He was incapable, no matter how drunk or drugged he was, to have sexual relations with his own child."
(Genevieve is the mother of BIJOU PHILLIPS. And it makes sense she would deny this. Because she was John's WIFE while it was allegedly going on.)
By the way . . . here's a kind of bittersweet addendum to all of this: In the 1980s, John Phillips put together a new version of The Mamas and the Papas . . . and Mackenzie was one of the members.
And now, a long lost album they recorded back in the day is going to be released sometime early next year.
Jeffrey Greenberg, an attorney for the John Phillips estate, says it might even come out sooner because of the, "renewed interest" in John and Mackenzie.
He says, "In a perverse way, I guess, if there is a way to make lemonade out of the lemons, that would be good."
